Rivalry between ninjas and samurais

Hi people, welcome again and let me tell you that I’m glad that you like the posts that I’m uploading. Today, I will talk about the main differences between ninjas and samurais. These differences provoked conflicts within these two cultures and ended in a constant rivalry between ninjas and samurais.

First, samurais are the oldest warriors in Japan. This provoked that samurais gained more military power and therefore, they ended being an elite. On the other hand, ninjas were mercenaries or middle class people who did not have the status of a samurai but were capable enough of learning war strategies or techniques that samurais did not know. Second, samurais’ code of honor stated that they should serve only to one family while ninjas’ code stated that they should serve to every person that pays them. Finally, another important difference is the fighting style of both groups. Ninjas tend to attack from behind, at night and with different tactics to kill their enemies, for example, poison. On the other hand, samurais used to present themselves and then they attacked their enemies with their katana. (Utilidad.com)

Probably, the rivalry between these two groups began because samurais were afraid of being replaced by ninjas because they knew that ninjas had more abilities than them. In addition to this, samurais had conflicts with ninjas because they did not want to lose their military power gained previously in Japan. Also, the code of honor from both groups is very different and this created a variety of opinions among them, making that the conflicts arise. Well that is all for today people, have a nice week, comment and see you soon.

  1. Hi,
I think it is interesting to know how ninjas and samurais were always in conflicts because of their abilities. I know a little about the code of both groups, and I prefer ninja code, I think it was somehow easier than the bushido, except that hey have to be loyal to only the village in which they grown up, I think that would be stressful, because if someone wanted to have a different life style, they knew that if they run away, they would be chased by other ninjas and killed after they were found :/ .
    Anyway, good post and information,
    GBU,
    have a nice day.

  2. Hi Ray! Good to see another post of you. I actually find this the best of all your posts. It shows a huge difference between both, helping to understand better what happens between them. Nos, after this post I cannot see the ninjas the same as the samurais. I finally realize that I had a wrong image of the ninjas. I thought that the samurais were the ‘bad’ ones because they were the high social class. And I thought that because of this the samurais discriminated the ninjas. But now after reading your post the only sure thing that I can say is HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CODE OF HONORS. This make me saw that the ninjas are just a bunch of mercenaries that worry only about their economic needs. The ninjas just jumped off my pedestal and are falling faster and faster. I think that the samurais deserve to be the high social class in Japan because of their code of honor. The fact that they wanted only to serve the family makes me think about the big values of them. The family is the most important thing and the samurais know it, while the ninjas just killed from behind, like cowards.
Well, this post opened my eyes and I must say that I liked it very much. Is the post that best caught my attention so, congratulations. Keep doing a good job, and remember to visit my blog again, maybe I will answer you comment about my last post in the next week. See you.
